Fancy Fruit Farm was founded in the Mukono district of Uganda in 2021 to
introduce high-value organic fruits to Ugandan farmers. The farm produces
strawberries, blackberries, blueberries, peaches, dragon fruit, kiwis, passion fruit and
melons, the first farm in Uganda to grow all of these fruits. All grown organically,
these fruits are highly nutritious, providing crucial vitamins and antioxidants,
improving nutrition in rural areas in Uganda.
The farm, based in Golomolo village, near Katosi, uses drip irrigation powered by
solar water pumps on rich dark soil to maximize crop yield. Our vision is to train
thousands of Ugandan farmers how to grow these fruits, greatly increasing their
income and nutrition.
The majority of the fruit is to be grown on the smallholder farms of our 240
outgrowers in Mukono, Kayunga and Hoima districts. These outgrowers are trained
in how to grow these fruits, are given advice, reminders and crop reports through our
mobile app and regular visits to their farm by our agronomists.
Currently, the farm supplies local Ugandan hotels and supermarkets with fresh fruit.
In the near future, the farm will begin exporting the fresh fruits via refrigerated air
cargo to Kenya, the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia.
